Frequently Asked Questions
Do we have to follow the PDI coach system?
No. PDI is an assessment tool for Coaches to use with their athletes to measure the progress of the Coach’s own system of development. However, with a Premium subscription the Coach/Athlete can leverage the drills and challenges we have made available. Those drills and challenges are primarily intended for Athletes that do not have a Coach, and the goal of the Coach Locator tool is to direct those Athletes to Certified Coaches for Coach-Guided PDIs and coaching.
Does PDI provide the practice plans?
The default approach of PDI for Athletes with Coaches is to allow the PDI Certified Coach to provide their own practice plans. The purpose of PDI Coach-Guided Assessments is to support the Coach in determining and aligning with the Athlete about what the Athlete needs to work on, and then measuring the progress.
However, with a Premium subscription the Coach/Athlete can leverage the drills and challenges we use with Athletes at The Golf Performance Center and Golf Performance Academy. Those drills and challenges in the app are primarily intended for Athletes that do not have a Coach, and the goal of the Coach Locator tool is to direct those Athletes to Certified Coaches for Coach-Guided PDIs and coaching.

Stats are a lag factor or results based information, PDI identifies and measures lead factors or foundational skills required for an athletes long term success and ability to produce consistent and ideal results, or lag factors.
What does the index number mean?
The index is a 0 to 100 score indicating where an athlete’s physical, golf, and mental skills, along with scoring average, are at any given time. PDI is designed to be a measurement that is repeated regularly to track development progress. The Certification training includes more explanation and a helpful chart to visualize average PDI scores overlaid with competitive playing levels.
Where do I take a PDI Assessment?
You can find a certified coach using our “Find a Certified Coach” locator tool.
Why are Physical skills part of the PDI Assessment?
Functional Movement is at the core of human performance and directly influences why an athlete walks, throws, or swings a golf club the way they do. These fundamental physical skills are responsible for permanent improvement and longevity in the sport.
